Vitamin B3 supplements can stay on the aging work: study

Supplements takes vitamin B and derivatives thereof may be used as a potential means for delaying the aging process in humans, and age-related diseases such as diabetes, new study suggests.
Scientists of the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), University of Valencia and Madrid Imde food, in an attempt to increase the antioxidant capacity of a global movement, instead of just one or a few antioxidant enzymes.

Therefore, researchers have focused on increasing nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH), a simple molecule that is of interest antioxidant reactions.Scientists used genetic elevated levels of NADPH. Making transgenic mice "expression grows dehydrogenase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) in their bodies, as one of the main production of NADPH.

The results show that NADPH G6PD increase and thereby increases the natural antioxidant defenses, protects against oxidative damage, reduction of aging related processes, such as insulin resistance and increased life expectancy.

When the researchers analyzed transgenic animals with a long life span, they found that the level of oxidative damage were lower than in non-transgenic animals of the same age.

We studied the propensity of cancers to develop such animals, and found no differences, indicating that "G6PD activity no significant influence on the development of cancer.

When the researchers measured the aging process in transoceanic mice, they found that animals with high expression of G6PD is the "high NADPH, but the population metabolizes sugar better presented and better coordination of movement as you get older.

"Furthermore, the transgenic females survived 14 percent longer than non-transgenic mice, there was no significant effect on the life expectancy in men.

"This increased life expectancy, albeit modest, a resident of that until now trying to increase the life span by manipulating individual antioxidant enzymes failed," said Pablo Fernandez-Marcos, of Imde food.

Perhaps the key is that researchers accompanies all antioxidant enzymes in a global way.
"Compared with the traditional" approach to administration of anti-oxidants that react directly with oxygen, we all the specific antioxidant effect on cells stimulated by increasing the level of G6PD and by-product, NADPH "says Marie Carmen Gomez-Cabrera, of the University of Valencia.

Scientists emphasize the use of pharmacologic agents or dietary supplements that increase the level of NADPH as a potential tool for delaying of aging and aging-related diseases such as diabetes, "other.
Specifically, vitamin B3 and its derivatives have been responsible for the synthesis of precursors and NADPH are good candidates for future studies.

The study was published in the journal Nature Communications.
