The pain may be located in the womb

The pain may be located in the womb, low down within the pelvis, higher in the abdomen, or in the low back. it may spread to the thighs.

One of the remedies on the opposite page may be helpful, but the picture may be complicated by emotional problems, different types of pain, and feelings of malaise before, during or after the bleeding. if this is so , consult the other relevant pages in this section of the book and try to form a composite picture. if this fails, seek the advice of an experienced homoeopath.

Painful Periods

Severe pain - sudden onset. nervous restlessness.
  • Aconit 30c. One dose at fifteen to thirty minute intervals. stop with improvement. 


Cutting pain the day before period starts. Pressing down pain in right pelvis. hot, profuse bright red bleeding. usually better moving about.



 Spasms of severe pain tin the womb on the first day of bleding may seem to spread to other parts of the body. light bleeding.

  • Caulophyllum 6c. one dose at fifteen to thirty minute intervals. stop with improvement. 


Labour like pains. blood brown with clots. peevish ,impatient, irritable. cant bear it 'not fair'

  • Chamomilla 6c. One dose at fifteen to thirty minute intervals stop with improvement. 


Spasms of colic, relived by hot water bottle. dark, stringy blood.



Cutting, tearing pains in lower abdomen and back. chilly sensation. Diarrhoea during period. tearful.

  • Pulsatilla 6c. one dose at fifteen to thirty minute intervals stop with improvement. 


Dragging down pain in left side of pelvis. downwards pressure. must cross legs. bleeding early or late, scanty or profuse.

  • Sepia 6c. one dose at fifteen to thirty minute intervals stop with improvement. 

The remedies for this condition may also be given as three doses, one morning, evening and the following morning, starting on day twelve of the menstrual cycle. use the 30c Potency.
